The present work aims to show that there is, in the Vieira's sacred prose, more specifically in the sermon of the Sixtieth and the sermon of Ash Wednesday (1672), parallels that, in their essence, are allegorical, or, in other words, parallels that are united to allegory, a phenomenon we call allegorical parallelism. The methodology used is qualitative. The work is based on Reboul (2004), Abreu (2004), Alves (2015), Melo (2009), Resende (2008), Santos (2000), among others. The analyzes point out that in fact, in the sermons mentioned above, there are parallels that we call allegorical. These parallels - although, like the non-allegorical ones, produce an insistent effect due to recurrences and cause the idea to “hammer” in the audience's mind - they are unique, singular because, because they are joined to the allegory, they have the “virtue”. To symbolize the second discourse, giving it a more expressive, visual and in some cases also more didactic and pedagogical form.
