As
(43,07%), subsequentemente Mesostigmata (20,99%) e Trombidiforme (13,77%), o grupo
Neogamasellevans, Ologamasus e Euepicrius) Laelapidae (gêneros Laelapis e Gaeolaelaps),
Studies of the invertebrates edaphic fauna in the Caatinga are incipient. Among the edaphic

With this, the hypothesis that in soil forest and palm cultivation, there is a complex of mite

edaphic mites in cultivation of Palma (Opuntia sp.) and in an area of forst of the Caatinga

in an area with palm cultivation and forest in the Sertão Alagoano. Soil samples were
collected and transported to the Entomology and Acarology Laboratory of the Federal
University of Alagoas (UFAL) - Arapiraca Campus. To extract the specimens, the modified
Berlese-Tullgren funnel was used. After this stage, the material was subjected to sorting and
later the mites were mounted on slides using Hoyer medium. The slides were placed in a
forced aeration oven for drying and clearing the structures at 55 ° C, for a period of seven
days. The mesostigmata and thrombidiform mites found were identified using specilized
dichotomous keys, up to gender and family, respectively. 2120 specimens of mites (adult and
immature) were found in both areas, with 20.61% immature. The group with the highest
number was Oribatida (43.07%), subsequently Mesostigmata (20.99%) and Thrombidiform
(13.77%), the Astigmata group corresponded to only 0.89% of the mites found. The largest
number of mites collected was in the forest, with a predominance of litter. Among the
Mesostigmata, the families Ologamasidae (Neogamasellevans, Ologamasus and Euepicrius)
were identified, Laelapidae (Laelapis and Gaeolaelaps), Ascidae (two morphospecies) and
Epicriidae (one morphospecies). To date, there are no reports of mites Eupicriidae
(Mesostigmata) and Erythraeidae (Trombidiforme), and the genus Euepicrius (Mesostigmata:
Ologamasidae) in survey in the Caatinga Biome.
