A partir
dessa análise, chegamos a três categorias.
This work has as theme self-injury in the school context. Understood as self-injury the act of
causing intentional harm to yourself, without suicidal intention. has as its general objective
understand the meanings of self-injurious practice for the DOTs (class guiding teachers).
And as specific objectives identify how the teacher can perceive students who self-harm,
what role does it play in discovering it, and what factors do you think may trigger it. Such
theme needs to be investigated more carefully, because there is a scarcity of studies on selfinjury in the state of Alagoas, especially that it addresses the perspective of teachers. This
research was supported by Historical-Cultural Psychology, who understands that man is an
active, historical, and social being, which attributes a subjective meaning to things, and that
interacts with its socio-historical context. For that, a field research was carried out, of qualitative and descriptive nature through semi-structured interviews. Six DOTs from a public
school in the municipality of Palmeira dos Índios were interviewed. Content Analysis was
used as an analysis technique. From this analysis, we come to three categories. The first,
entitled “The teacher in his work”, presents the view that DOTs have about their role in
school, and the strategies developed to deal with self-injury. The second category is called
“The young people in his relationships”. In it, we highlight the view of DOTs on the relationship of young people with themselves and with their social enviroment, especially the school
and the family. The third category, “Self-harm in your senses” refers to the understanding
that DOTs have about self-harm practice and about its manifestation and detection in the
school context. Finally, in this research, we defend the need for moments of discussion on
this subject, inside and outside the school community, so that one can pay attention to the
socioeconomic and historical-cultural factors linked to this practice and to the signs that help
in its detection. Therefore, in this research, we defend the need for moments of discussion
on this subject, inside and outside the school community, so that we can pay attention to the
socioeconomic and historical-cultural factors linked to this practice, and for signals that aid in
their detection.
