Memórias sobre trilhos

Falar sobre ferrovia, em muitas cidades ao redor do Brasil, se tornou sinônimo de saudade e esperança de um possível retorno. A chegada da Linha Férrea ao longo do século XIX, representou crescimento e progresso para as regiões. Contribuiu para o desenvolvimento das áreas interioranas por onde passou, estimulando a economia, trazendo novidades para a sociedade e a cultura local, revolucionando as comunicações com novas tecnologias. Encurtou as distâncias e abriu caminhos. A ferrovia chegou em Arapiraca/AL no ano de 1950, através do Ramal Eixo Sul, que saía da Estação Lourenço de Albuquerque, no município de Rio Largo e seguia até Porto Real do Colégio, colocando a cidade agrestina na rota do desenvolvimento. Com a desativação da linha, desde 1980 para trens de passageiros, e, 1999 para transporte de cargas, o que restam hoje são trilhos sucateados e uma estação subutilizada. O significado vai além da materialidade de um bem, presente no contexto em que ele está inserido, assim como em tudo aquilo que a ele se relaciona. O valor que um bem cultural possui para as gerações passadas, presentes e futuras determina o seu significado e importância dentro de um dado contexto social, assim como na história e memória local, despertando o sentimento de pertença e consequentemente o instinto de proteção. É preciso resgatar as temporalidades e referências presentes no espaço urbano e para além dele, no campo da memória e, para isso, é preciso um olhar sensível e intencional em sua busca. A fim de contribuir para o registro de informações, e a valorização das memórias e significados que permeiam o campo do patrimônio ferroviário de Arapiraca, esta pesquisa gerou dois produtos. O primeiro trata-se de um documento escrito, embasado por pesquisa e consulta à documentos históricos e atuais; o segundo, se refere a uma série de vídeos em formato de documentário, com quatro episódios de curta duração, intitulada Memórias Sobre Trilhos. Para produção do vídeo foi usado como parâmetro o processo desenvolvido pela atual professora, Simone Romão, em seu trabalho final de graduação (TFG) intitulado ‘À Memória do Movimento: A influência do trem na percepção das paisagens’ (2003). A série traz relatos de memórias individuais, carregados de subjetividade, compondo uma perspectiva sobre o patrimônio ferroviário a partir dos olhos de quem o vivenciou. Assim, tanto o documento escrito, quanto o vídeo produzido, passam a ser documentos que testemunham sobre a história, memória e significância cultural da ferrovia em Arapiraca, criando instrumentos para educação patrimonial, conscientização e valorização da memória da ferrovia da cidade.

To talk about railways, in many cities around Brazil, became similar to the feeling of missing and the hope for a possible return. The arrival of the railroad throughout the 19^th century, represented growth and progress to the regions. It contributed with the development of the inner cities where it went through, encouraging the local economy, bringing news, and revolutionizing the communication. It shortened the distances and opened ways. The railroad arrived in Arapiraca/AL in 1950, through the Eixo Sul extension line, which went from the Lorenço de Albuquerque Station, in the city of Rio Largo/AL to Porto Real do Colégio/AL, placing the country city in the development route. With the deactivation of the railroad, since 1980 for passenger trains, and, 1999 for freight trains, what is left today is scrapped rails and an abandoned station. The meaning goes beyond the asset’s materiality, present in its context, as everything it relates with. The cultural value the asset has for the past, present and future generations determines its meaning and importance in a certain social context, just as in the local history and memory, awakening the feeling of belonging and consequently the protection instinct.  It is necessary to rescue the temporalities and references present in the urban layout and beyond it, in the memory field, and, for that, it’s necessary to have a sensible and intentional look on its search. In order to contribute to the information register, and the appreciation of the memories and meanings that permeate the Arapiraca’s railway’s patrimony’s, this research created two products. The first one is about a written document, based on search and consult to relevant documents; the second one, refers to a series of video recordings in a documentary format, with four short episodes, titled Memórias Sobre Trilhos (which means Memories Over Rails). For the video production the process developed by the current teacher, Simone Romão, in her Trabalho Final de Graduação (Degree’s Final Work) named ‘À Memória do Movimento: a influência do trem na percepção das paisagens’ (The Movement’s Memory: the train´s influence over the landscapes percepction) (2003) was used as a standard. The series brings reports of individual memories, loaded with subjectivity, composing a perspective about the railway’s patrimony through the eyes of the ones who lived it. Therefore, both the written document, and the produced video, becomes documents that testify about the history, memory and cultural significance of the railroad in Arapiraca, creating instruments to the patrimonial education, awareness and appreciation of the city railroad’s memory.
