Behaving in a group has been a behavior adopted by species since its most remote origin. Living in
flocks continues to favor the perpetuation of humanity's spatial and social species and organization. The
leader is the support mechanism of a group, however, there is a relationship of interdependence and
constant exchange in this context. Our work is a literature review where we seek to investigate the
behavior of groups and the role of the leader as a controlling agent from the perspective of behavior
analysis and the theory of Elisabeth Neumann, the spiral of silence. We conclude that the behavior of
groups and leadership are intrinsically interconnected, since the leader has the ability to influence the
components of the group, as well as to keep it cohesive. In this sense, we have the leader as a controlling
agent who, intentionally, through instruments such as reinforcement, verbal behavior and aversive
control, has control and prediction over the group's behavior, favoring the achievement of objectives.
