Padrão de beleza e proporção áurea: perfeição fundamentada no número phi
Padrão de beleza e proporção áurea: perfeição fundamentada no número phi
<jose.levi@arapiraca.ufal.br>
Mathematics
is in everything, humanity has long sought to study and use proportionality in
different areas of knowledge, one of the ways to apply proportions in order to
achieve perfection and harmony is with the use of the so-called golden number,
of which derive other mathematical elements – golden rectangle and ellipse, phi
mask, etc. – extensively studied and applied in other fields. Beauty, often
correlated or involved with ideals of perfection, could then be mathematically
achieved or explained? Great mathematicians, philosophers and thinkers
throughout history have developed studies in this area of knowledge, creating
applications in art, architecture, human anatomy, aesthetics, dentistry and
others. Based on these initial considerations, the purpose of this study is to
analyze the applications of the Phi number and its variants - golden rectangle
and ellipse, golden proportion, and others -, with the perception of perfection
or ideal aesthetic in different areas of knowledge, such as in art,
architecture and even dentistry. Methodologically, a literature review was
carried out to promote a basic and qualitative study based on scientific
articles that prove to be useful and relevant to this research. With the
developed analyses, it was noticed that the proportions of gold and,
consequently, the number of phi can help different areas to reach the
mathematical ideal of beauty, however, it is worth highlighting the
subjectivity of what is beautiful, always remembering that in Mathematics
through calculations and proportions we can arrive at a perfect and harmonic model,
not necessarily the most beautiful, after all, the conception and apprehension
of what is beauty differs from individual to individual and is a deeper
philosophical discussion.
