comunidades e ecossistemas.
arquitetura ramificada (Aq. R).
The study of Ecology is related to the interaction between organisms and their distribution in terms of richness and abundance. Understanding how such measures are correlated and defined is important to compare biological diversity, possible variations associated with time and space, and thus obtain indicators of the functioning of communities and ecosystems. Thus, the speciesarea theory postulates the link between the size of the area and the influence on the number of species. In this sense, plants with greater heights would have a greater richness and abundance of their assemblages, among them that of insects to which they can establish intimate interactions with plants. However, few studies have investigated the effects of area size on the diversity of visiting and tenant insects. Thus, the present work aims to determine whether the size of individuals of Andira nitida (Fabaceae) is a determining factor in the richness and abundance of its visitor/tenant arthropods in the Marituba do Peixe Environmental Protection Area, as well as: to inventory the associated arthropods to Andira clearly; identify specimens collected at the family level; to collect information on the three-dimensional structure of Andira nitida individuals and compare the richness and abundance of the families found considering the size of Andira nitida individuals. For this, ten individuals of the species A. nitida were randomly chosen in the study area in two consecutive collections. The sampling of entomofauna specimens was carried out actively by tapping the branches of the plants at a height of up to 2 meters from the stratum, using an entomological umbrella. To investigate the relationship between species - area, a survey of functional traits of plant specimens was carried out to determine their physical structure considering the functional parameters: diameter at breast height (DBH), maximum plant height (Hmax), architecture branched (Aq.R). In total, 635 insect specimens were sampled, distributed in ten orders and 44 families. Some groups showed a high rate of immature organisms such as Blatellidae and Lepidoptera, which evidences Andira nitida being a host of these species, probably they colonize it in search of food resources. It was observed that the plant height is a factor that influences the composition (richness and abundance) of the assemblages of tenant and visiting insects in Andira nitida. In addition, the indication of the high prevalence in relation to the high capture of ants in almost all the plants sampled would be associated with the establishment of interactions between the plant and the ant species that actively forage it.
