A repetição desse
“Photon-avalanche-like upconversion in NdAl3(BO3)4 nanoparticles excited at
1064nm” e “Gain clamping in random lasers”, respectivamente.
Trivalent
earth ions have been shown to be efficient in emitting different wavelengths.
This is because the optically active electrons are no longer external and thus
weaken the bond of ions when doped into a material host, due to a process
called lanthanide contraction. In this text we will show an increase in
efficiency (Nd3+ fluorescence) in NAl3(BO3)4
nanoparticles under an excitation (~1064 nm) non-resonant state from the ground
to the 4F3/2 level. Even with not quite efficient excitation
(AF) that favored the 4F3/2 level with a stoichiometric
sample and with great impact (AF) that favored the 4F3/2
level with a 4F3/2 sample level. phonon annihilation to
initially level 4F3/2. In the interaction between an
excited ion (4F3/2) and another in the ground state (4I9/2),
the excited ion transfers part of the energy to the other in the ground state
in such a way that the first one relaxes from the 4F3/2
level to the 4I15/2 and the second is excited from 4I9/2
to 4I15/2. At the end of this process, both ions are
promoted to the 4I15/2 level. Due to the proximity to the
lower levels, these ions relax non-radiatively to the 4I13/2
and 4I11/2 levels. Once at this level, the ions can
absorb radiation from the excitation beam that is resonant with the 4I11/2
to 4F3/2 transition. Thus, an ion initially excited at
the 4F3/2 level in a non-resonant manner leads to two
ions in this state after the sequence of events: energy transfer; non-radiative
relaxations; resonant excited state absorption. The two ions at the 4F3/2
level can transfer energy to two neighbors in the ground state and take four
ions into the 4F3/2 level. The repetition of this set of
events leads to an excitation that follows a geometric progression of excited
ions. With large numbers of ions at the 4F3/2 level we can
observe transitions that characterize energy upconversion (UC) along the
photoluminescent spectrum. In addition to the FA mechanism, it was investigated
how the concentration of Nd3+ ions influences the FA mechanism. The
results of this project are published in the journal Applied Physics Letters
and two more works have already been published in the journals Journal of
Luminescence and Laser Physics Letters with titles of “Photon-avalanche-like
upconversion in NdAl3(BO3)4 nanoparticles
excited at 1064nm” and “Gain clamping in random lasers” respectively.
