“Se tirar, ela arreia”: envelhecimento e subjetivação na feira livre de Palmeira dos Índios

Trata-se
de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de caráter exploratória, que teve como objetivo
conhecer os processos psicossociais experimentados por idosos/as na sua relação
com a feira livre de Palmeira dos Índios, cidade situada no agreste alagoano. A
partir disso, buscou-se compreender as motivações que os levam a frequentarem a
feira, bem como, conhecer como as histórias de vida deles se relacionam com a
feira e as reverberações sociopolíticas do trabalho na feira para a velhice.
Para isso, o estudo teve como referencial teórico autores que versavam sobre a
feira, as concepções de velhice e o trabalho na terceira idade. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas
e construídos diários de campo, analisados a partir da Análise de Conteúdo. Participaram
da pesquisa seis idosos/as, sendo cinco mulheres feirantes e um homem freguês. Os
resultados estão organizados em duas categorias. A primeira delas, apresenta os
sentidos e os significados atribuídos ao trabalho na velhice, assim como as
implicações econômicas e sociopolíticas que o trabalho teve na vida dos
participantes, especialmente na velhice. A segunda categoria, apresenta a relação
estabelecida entre os idosos/as e a feira, abordando as diferentes concepções
de velhice e os sentidos subjetivos conferidos ao fazer feira.
This is a qualitative research, of an
exploratory nature, which aimed to understand the psychosocial processes
experienced by elderly people in their relationship with the open market in
Palmeira dos Índios, a city located in the countryside of Alagoas. From this,
we sought to understand the motivations that lead elderly people to attend the
fair, as well as knowing how their life stories relate to the fair and the
sociopolitical reverberations of working at the fair for old age. For this, the
study had as its theoretical reference authors who talked about the fair,
concepts of old age and work in old age. Semi-structured interviews were
carried out and field diaries were created, analyzed using Content Analysis.
The research sample was made up of six elderly people, five of whom were women
market traders and one male customer. The results were presented in two
categories. The first of them presents the meanings and meanings attributed to
work in old age, as well as the economic and sociopolitical implications that
work had on the lives of the participants, especially in old age. The second
category presents the relationship established between the elderly and the
fair, addressing the different conceptions of old age and the subjective
meanings conferred by holding a fair.
