The world was unexpectedly impacted by the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic -SARS-CoV-2 -, which brought COVID-19 to the reality of all sectors of human life, in the educational sphere it was no different. With the replacement of face-to-face classes with digital classes and considering some specificities of physical education teaching practice, the present study sought to analyze the impacts of the pandemic on physical education teaching practices in Alagoas. This is a descriptive, exploratory research, based on the answers provided by 16 physical education teachers who work in elementary schools in Alagoas, collected through an online questionnaire, consisting of 35 questions. The research revealed that teachers had to adapt their home working environment and underwent a restructuring of their work routine, which contributed to negative impacts on their physical and mental health. Despite teachers' efforts to do effective work, the difficulty in accessing the internet, the lack of adequate technological equipment, the lack of teacher-student interaction, problems arising from the pandemic and insufficient family support may have contributed to minimal adherence on the part of students, making it impossible for teachers to achieve the expected results for remote classes. With the return of classes in a hybrid format, new challenges emerged, including restrictions, lack of motivation among students and the emergence of emotional disorders. Therefore, in the meantime, there is an urgent need to recover, partially or fully, the contents covered in remote classes, as well as the resumption of practical physical education activities.
