This
study investigates the influence of orality on writing, focusing on texts produced
by 7th-grade students in an urban school in São Sebastião, Alagoas. The
theoretical foundation is supported by authors such as Bortoni-Ricardo, Godim,
and Benício (2010), Fávero, Andrade, and Aquino (2012), Grunner (1967), and
Marcuschi (1997). The research, of a qualitative nature (Paiva, 2019),
primarily aims to identify and analyze the most recurring marks of orality in
students' texts. To this end, aspects such as traits of informality, implicit meanings,
repetitions, hesitations, anacoluthons, ellipses, contingencies, conversational
markers, and textual cohesion were examined. The results reveal a significant
influence of everyday speech, evidenced by the predominance of oral
characteristics that often affect the quality of the texts. It is concluded
that by understanding this dynamic, Portuguese language teachers can implement
effective pedagogical interventions that promote the appropriate use of speech
and writing. The analysis suggests that recognizing the presence of orality in
written productions is essential for students' development, highlighting the
importance of pedagogical strategies that value the interaction between these
modalities in the teaching-learning process.
