Arquitetura e preservação da memória: análise do projeto de retrofit do shopping de Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas

O rápido crescimento urbano e
desenvolvimento tecnológico das cidades tende a resultar no abandono e na
deterioração de edificações antigas. Nesse cenário, o retrofit apresenta-se
como uma alternativa eficaz na requalificação e preservação dessas edificações.
A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar os impactos do projeto de
retrofit do Shopping da Vila em Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas, para a preservação do
patrimônio arquitetônico e da memória dos moradores, fundamentando-se em
pesquisa bibliográfica em artigos, dissertações e sites. No referencial teórico
destaca-se dois principais conceitos: o de patrimônio cultural – podendo ser
entendido como um bem de valor histórico e cultural para um determinado grupo
de pessoas – e o de retrofit – técnica utilizada a fim de atualizar um edifício
antigo sem descaracterizá-lo – buscando compreender a importância destes na
preservação da memória a partir da reabilitação de edificações históricas. Para
compreender a importância histórica do objeto de estudo, é imprescindível
entender o desenvolvimento do município em questão, logo, é feita uma breve
contextualização histórica a respeito da cidade e da criação da Companhia Agro
Fabril Mercantil e sua relevância no desenvolvimento urbano-industrial de
Delmiro Gouveia. Como meio de obtenção de dados por parte da população acerca
da antiga fábrica têxtil e como forma de compreender a visão pessoal das
pessoas em relação a preservação da memória da edificação em questão após ser
retrofitada, foram realizados dois procedimentos metodológicos: uma entrevista
com dois ex-operários da fábrica têxtil e um questionário divulgado em meio
digital. As respostas possibilitaram recolher informações em relação as
características arquitetônicas preservadas no local, as memórias pessoais vinculadas
a antiga fábrica e os pontos positivos e negativos após o retrofit. Por fim,
foram definidos critérios relacionados as soluções de funcionalidade e
organização espacial, incorporação de novas tecnologias e preservação de
características arquitetônicas e estilísticas, posteriormente utilizados para
analisar o projeto de retrofit do atual Shopping da Vila em Delmiro Gouveia,
Alagoas. Dessa forma, a pesquisa destaca a relevância do retrofit como um
instrumento de preservação da memória coletiva e do patrimônio arquitetônico,
tendo em vista como uma reabilitação pode ser capaz de conciliar valorização do
passado de uma edificação e adaptação às demandas contemporâneas de uso e
funcionalidade.
The rapid urban growth and technological
development of cities often lead to the abandonment and deterioration of old
buildings. In this context, retrofit emerges as an effective alternative for
the rehabilitation and preservation of such structures. This research aims to
analyze the impacts of the retrofit project of the Shopping da Vila, located in
Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas, on the preservation of architectural heritage and the
memory of local residents. The study is based on bibliographical research using
academic articles, dissertations, and online sources.The theoretical framework
highlights two main concepts: cultural heritage — understood as an asset of
historical and cultural value to a specific group of people— and retrofit — a
technique used to modernize an old building without compromising its original
character. These concepts are explored to understand their role in preserving
memory through the rehabilitation of historic buildings.To grasp the historical
significance of the object of study, it is essential to understand the
development of the municipality. Therefore, the research includes a brief
historical contextualization of the city and the establishment of the Companhia
Agro Fabril Mercantil, emphasizing its relevance to the urban and industrial
development of Delmiro Gouveia.To gather information from the local population
about the former textile factory and to understand their personal perceptions
regarding the preservation of the building’s memory after the retrofit, two
methodological procedures were conducted: an interview with two former factory
workers and an online questionnaire. The collected responses provided insights
into the preserved architectural features of the site, the personal memories
associated with the old factory, and the perceived positive and negative
aspects following the retrofit.Finally, evaluation criteria were established
concerning spatial organization and functionality solutions, incorporation of
new technologies, and preservation of architectural and stylistic characteristics.
These criteria were then applied to analyze the retrofit project of the current
Shopping da Vila in Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas. Thus, the research emphasizes the
relevance of retrofit as a tool for preserving collective memory and architectural
heritage, demonstrating how rehabilitation can reconcile the appreciation of a
building’s past with contemporary demands for use and functionality.
